Is it true that there is autoaim in the game? And if so, how bad is it/can it be disabled?

Its not ann autoaim, its a lockon. This game isn't a FPS, its third person so the lockon is an essential way of killing mobs. You can reduce the stickiness of the lock-on in the options menu
